What are the Tutoring Center's hours?
The Tutoring Center is open Monday through Friday, 10:00AM to 7:30PM, for tutoring and quiet study.
What should I bring to a tutoring session?
Bring your books, pen or pencil, paper, syllabus for the class, and any related questions you may have. Also come prepared with specific questions about an assignment.
Who is eligible for tutoring?
All UDC-CC and UDC students are eligible to receive tutoring.
Do I need an appointment?
Yes, it is best to schedule an appointment through GradesFirst, although tutors may be available on a walk-in basis.
How do I make an appointment?
Log-in to your GradesFirst account: udccc.gradesfirst.com (If you cannot access your GradesFirst account, send an email to email@example.com with your name and ID number and “GradesFirst” in the subject line. Log-in information will be sent to you.)
On the right-hand side you will see a link to "Schedule an Appointment." Click on it.
On the next page, click on the drop down menu under type and select "Tutoring Appointment"
On the right hand side, a list of tutors will generate. Click next to the name of the tutor you would like to schedule an appointment for.
Once you select a tutor, their availability will show up. Click on the checkbox next to the time you would like to meet with the tutor.
Scroll to the bottom and click "Save." The appointment has been made. Go to room 712 at the time of your appointment.
What if there are no appointments that match my schedule?
Contact the Tutoring Coordinator, Victoria Wordsworth (firstname.lastname@example.org or 202.274.6453) to see if there is a possibility to meet with a tutor outside of their regular tutoring hours. Also, tutors may be available on a walk in basis.
What should I do if I am not able to attend a scheduled a tutoring session?
Contact the tutor or the Tutoring Coordinator (email@example.com or 202.274.6453) to cancel and/or reschedule your appointment. Please do so at least 1 hour in advance.
Who are the tutors?
Tutors are usually UDC and UDC-CC students who have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 and have passed the classes they are tutoring in with a minimum of a B. Tutors may be also work in the field in which they are tutoring.
How often can I get tutoring?
You can receive tutoring as often as you like.
Can I find a tutor for any subject?
Unfortunately, we do not offer tutoring for all subjects. If you need help with a subject we do not offer, please let the Tutor Coordinator know (firstname.lastname@example.org or 202.274.6453).
If I am late for an appointment, will the tutor wait for me?
Tutors will only wait 10 minutes.
How can I become a tutor?
To become a tutor, you need to contact the Tutoring Coordinator to state your interest (email@example.com or 202.274.6453). If you meet the qualifications and would be a good fit, you would need to complete an application, and pass a background check.
