In Spring 2011, Dr. Jonathan Gueverra, in collaboration with faculty and staff, created the Minority Male Initiative to improve the enrollment support services and graduation rates of students from underrepresented communities at UDC-CC. This program, which has included forums, panel discussions, and regular meetings, has been a great success among students. The initiative offers academic support programs, staff/ faculty mentoring, peer mentoring, and personal development. All meetings and events are open to eligible students, faculty, and staff. English Professor Laurence Covington, Career Development Director Clifton Coates, and Student Success Counselors, Hakeem Graham and David Lloyd along with other faculty and staff spearheaded this initiative.
